18. What is the committee's role in community events or social activities?Answer: Essentially none in a “hands-on” sense. This is currently handled by the (separate) social committee. The committee supports other committees reporting at each quarterly meeting.

17. What training or resources are available to help me understand my role?Answer: There is no formal training process. More experienced members can mentor new members.

What are the next steps if I’m interested in joining?Answer: The next principal step is to complete and submit a nomination form ahead of the AGM on 29 November, to be received no later than 25 November. Nominations can be received from the floor during the meeting if this deadline is missed, however this is not ideal.

3. Why should I consider joining the Resident’s Committee?Answer: Joining allows you to have a voice in community issues, help improve neighbourhood conditions, strengthen relationships with neighbours, and advocate for Residents’ rights to the management team.

How does a Resident’s Committee differ in a land-lease community?Answer: In a land-lease setting, the committee often serves as a bridge between Residents and the property management or owners, advocating for Residents' needs and working on issues specific to a leased-land setup, such as lease terms, maintenance, and community standards.

What is the time commitment for committee members?Answer: Generally the committee meets before, and at, set meetings with management and the Residents, amounting to a minimum of 16 meetings per year or 4 per quarter. An average time for each meeting ranges from 1-2 hours plus any set up and pack down time required. In between meetings committee members may have set tasks and will also need to review draft agendas, meeting minutes and other pieces of distributed information. Office bearers such as Chair and Secretary will have additional requirements.

13. Are there any fees associated with joining the committee?Answer: There are no financial functions of the Residents committee. Historically reimbursement of some minor operational costs such as printing has been supported by social committee funds.

6. Are there specific roles on the committee?Answer: Yes, roles include Chairperson, Deputy Chair, Secretary and general members. Each position has different responsibilities, like leading meetings and handling communication with Residents and management. Some members may have specialised areas of expertise. These responsibilities are set out within the Constitution.

16. Is there a formal term or commitment period for committee members?Answer: An elected committee member is elected on the basis of a 1-year term, non-ongoing, subject to the election process at the end of each year.

How does the committee work to improve amenities or common areas?Answer: The committee can represent Residents' requests for amenities or common area improvements to management and may collaborate on planning however the current challenge is to keep the current facilities maintained at an acceptable level.

12. What if I disagree with the committee or management?Answer: Open communication and respectful discussion are encouraged. The committee strives for consensus, and whilst committee members are not restricted from making their own individual representations to management or governing bodies, it is expected that individuals respect and represent the consensus of the committee.

7. Do I need prior experience or skills to join?Answer: No prior experience is necessary. Committees value Residents who are willing to contribute time and ideas. Skills in organisation, communication, or project management can be helpful but are not required.
